The board’s long, wide, and agile kicktails are designed to execute tricks with more height and precision. The concave and delicate rocker ensure a secure footing, and when combined with a stiffness rating of 9/10, it provides a stable stance during trick execution or stand-up slides. Incredible and phenomenal in every way. I bought this expecting a board primarily for freestyle and found a board well-suited for all longboarding disciplines. I was looking for a new, durable board to invest in and looked into boards with PU sidewalls like Moonshine MFG, however, was concerned about the PU sidewalls impacting freestyle responsiveness. I was also initially concerned as the deck was slightly heavier than I was used to, however, quickly went away after witnessing the incredible pop momentum and riding the board, and it feels like the PU sidewalls aren’t even there.
The rocker concave feels amazing for both dancing, carving/pumping, and gives me more return momentum when pushing. I’m not much of a free-rider, but this board is definitely slideable and good for stand-ups. However, Switch promises this freestyle longboard, and they definitely deliver. The thing that impressed me the most about this board, is that despite its weight, the effort needed to pop the board, or lift it, is extremely minimal. The kicktails are not to be underestimated in terms of pop and responsiveness and I’ve found that this amplifies the height for pop tricks, very much improving my ollies and overall jump height.
So far, I think this board was worth every bit of the price, especially given the free international shipping, high-quality build, and construction. Switch Longboards is also community-driven, very helpful, and has helped me a lot in deciding on a suitable board and answering questions. The Meerkat’s unique beautiful graphics are also done by talented artists in the community. The board is freestyle centered, but still extremely utilizable for other disciplines. This board feels like it combines blends all the best parts of the Dancing/Freestyle decks in my quiver into one, creating an absolute masterpiece. I have yet to have found a complaint or problem with this board or its design, and this is definitely worth checking out.
