Make space for balance practice at home

Balance boards give you a way to practise weight shifts and board control without needing a rolling board or a trip to the slopes. This category covers roller-based boards for balance sessions and curved rocker boards for movement and play.

A roller board moves over a separate cylinder, while a rocker balances directly on its curved underside. Explore cork and wood balance equipment or rocker boards for kids for these different types of movement.

Detailed information is in the product descriptions. If you need more details, ask us in the support chat or email us via our contact page.

PRACTICAL ANSWERS

Your balance board
questions.

Compare board types, included equipment and the right setup for your home or class.

A board on a roller or a curved rocker — which should I choose?

A board on a separate roller, such as Classic88 or Surf88, is suited to practising balance and board control. A curved rocker rests directly on its curved base and is designed for rocking and open-ended play. Choose the type of movement and the intended user first.

Which balance board is suitable for a beginner?

Classic88 and Surf88 include magnetic stoppers that limit the roller’s travel. Start with a suitable stopper position, small movements and a clear practice area. Classic88 has a rectangular shape; Surf88 has a surf-inspired outline. Check the model’s instructions before your first session.

What is the difference between the kids’ Rocker PRO and Classic?

PRO adds a felt underside and a graded edge. The felt helps protect hard floors and reduce noise. Classic has no felt underside or graded edge. Choose based on your floor and preferred features; children should use either model with adult supervision.

Is a roller included, and do I need to buy a mat?

Classic88 and Surf88 list a deck, cork roller and magnetic stoppers in their sets. Kids’ curved rockers do not need a separate roller. Mats are separate accessories unless explicitly included in your chosen listing, so check the contents on the product page.

Can I use a balance board on my floor at home?

Use a clear, level area and a suitable non-slip training mat to help protect the floor. The felt underside on Rocker PRO also helps reduce noise and protect hard surfaces. Keep the board, roller and floor clean, and follow the instructions for your model.

What is the maximum user weight?

Classic88, Surf88 and the Whales PRO kids’ rocker each list a maximum user weight of 120 kg (265 lb). Check the specification of the exact model you choose; a weight limit alone does not determine whether a board is suitable for a particular child or activity.

Where can I try a Switch balance board?

Use the Try Switch Gear map to find participating training facilities, clubs, camps and shops. Contact the venue before visiting to check the available equipment and booking requirements.

Can I order boards for a school, club or group classes?

Yes. Contact us with your organisation, the ages and sizes of your riders, your training space and the quantities you need. We can help you choose suitable equipment and prepare an offer.
